1987 Subaru GL 4x4 wagon review from North America
"Slow, well built car. Takes abuse and keeps running"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The air conditioning compressor went out a week after I purchased the car. It cost me $400 to get that replaced. Also, the front axles were shot when I purchased the car, they cost $180 to have the pair replaced. Other than that, everything works. I am amazed that a car as old as this, and with as many miles as this runs as well as it does, and all the items in the car work like a charm. Car is starting to rust quite badly though due to salt on the roads.
General comments?
Car is rusty where salt stuck to it. Car won't die. I drove it 10000 miles with no oil pressure, fixed the problem, and there was no problem. Exceptionally well built car. The seats hurt your back on trips over 20 miles, however that might be due to my height (six ft 2). Car is slow too.
