Head gasket blew at 30k.
Clutch went at 15k.
Rear bearing went at 50k.
Rear struts at 55k.
Now I have an internal head gasket leak, they won't honor their extended head gasket warranty.
This car sucks.
Please tell everyone, DO NOT BUY SUBARU, THEIR HEADS CRACK, AND GASKETS SUCK.
That's because it's an EJ25 of 2001. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the 01-02 EJ25 engines had the problems that this user listed. Especially with the head gasket going. Reason one why I stuck with my EJ22T for my 2000 OBS... yes I had an engine swap with the correct pistons and everything. No worries there. 6 years with no problems so far... except for my alarm going off every now and then. But then again that's my fault because I'm the dummy who installed the alarm. Live and don't learn right?
Sounds like you got yourself a lemon. I'm sorry you had such bad luck because to be totally honest, I can barely believe all of what your saying, not to question you by any means; that all just seems so bizarre for a Subaru boxer engine. Contrary to the last comment, I'd say the 2.5L boxer is virtually bullet proof if you maintain it correctly.
I hope you have some good experience in the future or perhaps own another one down the road. Subaru lemons are about 1 in a million, I highly doubt you'll have the same bad luck again with any other Impreza.
