1997 Subaru Impreza Brighton review from North America
"Amazing car!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Bought the car at a small used car lot.
Came with a massive oil leak from the front crank seal. Called the dealer and they quoted me $600 for the repair.
Found the parts online for $17.10, bought a Chiltons manual for $20, dedicated 8 hours of my time and fixed it myself.
General comments?
I've driven the car nearly 20,000 miles in the last year. It's now at 183,000 miles.
I beat the living hell out of it; hit 2 curbs sliding around in parking lots, frequently bring it to the RPM redline, drive ridiculous twisty 2 lane roads (with passion) almost every day, frequently drive offroad, and haven't washed it in almost 6 months.
I'm currently 3,000 miles over timing belt service and drive it like a race car.
Frequently take long road trips.
It has NEVER left me stranded (even in a blizzard with over a foot of snow on the ground.)
It is an extremely fun and easy car to drive.
AWD is absolutely amazing!
