1997 Subaru Impreza Turbo from UK and Ireland - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Two headlamp bulbs.

General comments?

A very good car. Interior feels very cheap.

What do you replace it with? There are only 16 official 22B STI's coming to the UK. Grey Imports sound like too much hassle.

Replace it with a P1 - values are coming down to more sensible levels now (£25-26k-ish, don't let the dealers rip you off for 30k), and there are still new ones unsold. Expect a Subaru price cut to match the recent Mitsubishi cut to £26k on the Evo VI (which is also a great car better than the standard Impreza turbo). 276bhp, full warranty, excellent sports seats, firmer suspension & uprated dampers give better road-holding, less understeer than the standard turbo, 17" wheels (the 18" tramline too much) which you should fit with Bridgestone S02s or Goodyear Eagle F1s since the P Zeros are a bit poor. Lastly, it's a limited edition so in 5-10 years will have much higher resale values if you look after it. Get the brake upgrade and experience genuine fade-free stopping power.
