1998 Subaru Impreza RX review from Australia and New Zealand
"A reliable runabout"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Only stereo problems have gone wrong. The dealer fitted a CD stacker and new head unit. They are clarion brand and have been the only real trouble I have had with the car. Replaced twice.
Key less Entry has stopped working .
General comments?
Has been a fantastic car. Although I don't do a lot of mileage in this car (it is a second car) it has proved to be ultra-reliable and dependable. Done a number of interstate trips and the car cruises nicely, but is a bit underpowered up hills or when quick overtaking is required, especially when fully loaded.
Cruise control is a bit disappointing, as doesn't keep car at same speed on hills.
The AWD, ABS and dual airbags inspire confidence and it feels like a safe and solid car, despite its small size.
Dealer has been good, replacing the stereo without question, and recommending the next time it goes, going to a stereo shop and getting a better one than he can supply, now that it is out of warranty. (Sydney City Subaru)
