"4K for THIS? Why have I never owned one before??"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing as yet. No bad smoke.. No noises that shouldn't be there. Looks like a got a mint example.

General comments?

Well what an awesome vehicle!!!

I have owned many cars and driven hundreds, but this is by far the best out of the lot. The shear speed of the car 0-60 4.9 seconds and 240 BHP as standard still shocks me when I floor it!

The overall handling of the car is in my opinion is overrated. People seem to confuse grip with handling. The grip is phenominal in the dry and in the wet. The suspension is far to soft and needs uprating.

Brakes are truly scary and should be uprated ASAP. They fade almost instantly which is not nice when driving hard into a corner.

Interior is red and black with the sports seats and isn't a bad place to be in. AC, EM and 4x electric windows ain't to shabby for a 1994 car either!

Make no mistake this car DRINKS optimax like there's no tommorrow if you drive it like it should be. Keep it under 3K revs all the time and it will not be as bad as you think. I have a full decat japanese exhaust on mine and it is loud, but only on the move. It sounds like Godzilla is coming down the road, but helps the car breath better so it's staying.

Insurance was a problem, but Elephant were there to help.

Just an update!!

Had to sell the car after costs got the better of me.. insurance was £230 a month.. petrol was £200 a month and I got a loan to buy the car which was £300 so I just didn't have spare cash to get things with so she had to go : (

I still miss her everyday.. Now got a BMW 323i coupe wich is quick, but dosen't have all the costs of the scooby.

I will own another scooby one day!

Bought a 93 WRX import a couple of months ago. What a phenomenal car, the ONLY thing that lets it down is the appalling fuel 'economy'.

I had considered having it remapped to run on UK 95 RON fuel instead of Optimax+booster, but that will be £750 or so, so it would be cheaper to keep feeding it expensive petrol.

An amazing car, and a performance bargain.

I Just bought a '94 GF8 (wagon) JDM import for NZD $1900.

Good God. What a bargain, and what a car! It has a couple of issues (small patch of rust, and a leaking rocker cover gasket) Once these are repaired, the car will still owe me under 3k NZ. Transfer solenoid also needs replacing.

The performance. Its pretty quick, but as this is the '94 'wagon' version it has the smaller TD04 turbo, and puts out about 10kw less than the sedan. Thus is has less lag and it still manages to always put a massive smile on my face, especially on a cold, misty night!

With tints, 17"s, and a lowered stance, it looks mean.

Only gripes are the seats non adjustable lumbar support, and its gargantuan thirst for Gas. I have had 5.0l V8s that were cheaper to run.

But who cares, right? the car is a blast!

The scooby is overrated. Yes, its very powerful but fuel and servicing costs are revolting. My 328 can't keep up with a scooby, but it drinks a third less fuel and can be repaired cheaply. It also lacks some of the negative image of the subaru.
