1998 Subaru Impreza Turbo AWD review from UK and Ireland
"Part practical, part fun, wholly wonderful"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The turbo dump valve got blocked which caused the car to stall for a second under hard acceleration - gulp! Fixed in 10 minutes under warranty.
General comments?
Almost perfect transportation. Family seats, decent boot, monstrous performance, idiotproof handling and grip, bulletproof mechanicals, comfortable cruiser, engaging companion in the twisties, free of the 'reversed baseball cap' image. It has a perfect response to the driver's every mood.
A bit stuffy without aircon and a bit thirsty, but this is really just nitpicking. While I owned this car I never envied any other driver - M3, 911, Skyline, no-one. A wonderful car that I feel privileged to have owned.
