1991 Subaru Legacy L review from North America
"Perfect go anywhere, anytime machine"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Subaru cars are well built cars, very tough and reliable. Except for the normal wear and tear after 12 years of hard driving, I didn't have too many problems. The things to keep an eye on these cars are mainly axles and brakes.
Never seem to get the brake noise stopped. Car was painted, the seats are OK, interior is made of plastic and it still seems to hold well, no visible damage. All the electronics still work.
Exhaust system needed some work. Doesn't have any rust. Air conditioning still works, not very cold. Great mileage for 130 hp engine, 25-26 miles/gallon (city and highway).
General comments?
The strongest points on this car are the
engine and the transmission. It seems the car will run forever. The handling is great for a sedan. The car's maximum speed that I have driven it, is 114 mph
at 5800 rpm, where the red-line is 6500 rpm. Feels very comfortable at this speed, it might take some time to reach the top speed probably around 120 mph.
This car is for a person that wants a cheap transportation, not a worry in the world about breakdowns. I drive it everywhere, sometimes making 1500 mile trips around the country.
