1998 Subaru Legacy LX + review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nil.
General comments?
Good; taut and responsive to drive, and corners confidently. Car is very quiet. It will climb a spiralling, snow-bound driveway without so much as a side-slip. Gear changing is not as sweet as it should be. The clutch pedal could do with a shorter travel. Steering wheel adjustment is a bit pointless, as anyone over 4 feet tall needs maximum height, and anyone under 4 feet couldn't see over it anyway. The seating is poor--considering the price of the vehicle--but the accessibility of serviced components and the general performance make up for this. It is a tough and resilient car with an incredible combination of low-speed torque and high revs. Its popular acclaim is well-deserved.
