1996 Subaru Legacy L review from North America
"All weather reliable AWD transport that's fast when not loaded down"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Exhaust rattle
Heat shield on drivers side of Y pipe was loose
Caused vibration and noise at 3200rpm
Was able to eliminate 99% of noise
without replacement.
Passenger side highlight
Out of alignment
Was able to adjust.
General comments?
Engine runs great
Good low end power but real fun begins
at 3500 rpm
Fast and fun when light
Somewhat under powered with 4 people and cargo
Not the most fuel efficient, but AWD is worth
it in winter.
Transmission and AWD awesome
Solid shifting and smooth acceleration
Not the fastest off the line, but tons of traction
Good all weather transport.
Very comfortable
Power windows & locks with keyless entry
Great suspension makes for tight cornering
Quiet ride, hardly any body roll
Headlights shut off when key is out, so no
dead battery
Perfect lines of sight
Good heat and AC
Surprisingly good speakers (bump)
Quick braking
All disk brakes with ABS
Hill holding feature, no rolling backward when starting out on hill saves clutch wear
Good Emergency brake.
Oil Filter and Plug near each other on front
bottom of engine
Can change oil without jacking up.
