1996 Subaru Legacy Brighton Wagon review from North America
"I have never owned a car that has so consistently exceeded my expectations as this one has."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Beyond basic service interval requirements this car has consumed no significant parts or service.
General comments?
This car has been a complete surprise. It has performed beyond expectation each mile I have owned it. I also have a BMW that came with the "Ultimate Driving Machine" tag line leaving little room for being impressed; it's fine, but not quite ultimate, and when it breaks, it is apocolyptic.
Twisty mountain roads in the summertime gave me the first surprise regarding the all-wheel drive system. It was so able to grip the dry corners under power (for what it is originally presented as) that I had to return to my dealer and ask why that was not mentioned in the pitch. They said they like to see the responses when customers return.
