1994 Subaru Legacy Turbo estate review from Poland
"Surprisingly fast and the best car I've ever driven"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rear right window doesn't open (probably caused by third party car alarm wiring)
General comments?
This is 100% sleeper, and one of the most versatile cars in its class, also great value for money.
Roomy estate (at least for European standards) with 4x4, boxer engine (low center of gravity), excellent performance and handling (6.7 0-100 km/h), low insurance cost (2.0 l engine), acceptable gas mileage (at least for European standards, again - in USA would be considered great, probably), and legendary reliability.
Boxer engine gives unique sound ;)
Overtaking is pure pleasure, as is taking turns. Not the best car for daily city commuting, though I manage to slip between cars "chess horse" style.
Not very comfy for long trips, interior rather utilitarian than luxurious, seats are not the best achievement of ergonomics, though there is lumbar support control etc.
Gearbox not very precise, though presumably stronger than impreza's from the same year. (Take into account this car is 12 years old).
Absolute control on wet and slippery surface, will get You everywhere, unless standard ground clearance will be obstacle. I tested it in mud, sand, on snow and ice. Absolutely fabulous, comparable only to audi quattro. Unless You need higher ground clearance, there is no need to buy a SUV, worse in almost every aspect, except passive safety in frontal impact with lighter opponent.
And I love overtaking shiny new cars with sporty looks. Damn - this car accelerates faster than porsche boxter :-)
