1998 Subaru Legacy Outback Limited from North America - Comments

"A very reliable and worthy buy, especially for the outdoorsy person in the snow belt"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The clutch was replaced under warranty at 132,000 miles.

I replaced both front axles at 140,000, which may have been my fault, may not have been.

The car has had numerous exhaust leaks, which were repaired at low cost.

Various valves and sensors have been replaced, under warranty, 3 times due too bad parts.

The heated seat switches recently broke.

The radio decided to quit abruptly at 167,000, bad fuse within the head unit.

General comments?

The car is amazing in the snow, especially with good snow tires.

The continuous all wheel drive acts exactly like I want it to in all conditions.

There is plenty of cargo room and the wagon body style is incredibly handy.

There is also plenty of ground clearance for moderate off-roading and once again the AWD works well.

The clutch has been very finicky and over the past 40,000 miles and has slipped randomly (without stinking), parts may need to be resurfaced.

I love the cold weather package, especially in the Adirondacks. The wiper de-icer is very convenient.

My radio in the same car just did the same. What steps did you take to fix the problem?
