"Secret classic in the making -Get one!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

As yet nothing, only owned it for 2 months.

General comments?

I was very surprised at the pace this thing goes, very smooth’ holds the road extremely well, and has a very good build quality.

Two niggles though 

1, I find the brakes a little vaig. For something that is this fast and heavy I would expect them to be sharper.

2. Fuel consumption is not good; in fact I am tempted to have the car look at as I find hard to believe this car only does 240- 260 miles per tank. Maybe it’s just me being tight!!

On the positive the car has the magical ‘power’ switch that launches the car from a shore footed, very quick fantastic handling saloon to a very fast beast of a thing

that has left boy racers opened mouthed at the lights (well had to try it did I !!)

The sound the car generates comes from the ‘boxster’ engine set up that has a wonderfully deep throat tone. I could ramble on’ so to the point.

It is a fantastic car; I have the saloon that is very rare if you are thinking about getting one.. Do it! You’re feel you’ve become part of an exclusive club as I have never seen another one, but reading other reviews from around the world via this site I have to agree. Be different and get a legacy.

Re "Fuel consumption is not good..." it can be because of the Boxer configuration engine, I suspect Boxers are thirty and have relatively short lifespans.

I love Suubies especially the Legacy Outback, but the lack of an economical Suubie diesel model prevents me from looking at Suubies more closely.

I need something reliable, diesel, car-like and with some ground clearance. Audi Quattros are nice, but close to the ground. Any recommendations?

Hi,

Firstly thanks for looking at my write up, to be honest I haven’t looked at it for some time and was very surprised to have a comment. As for your question around recommendations, well that’s the million dollar question.I guess budget would stand out as perhaps one of the biggest factors in determining what you would like or want. I think the Audi is a superb car, but like you said they are quiet low to the ground (are you going to use the car for towing?) as you mentioned ground clearance as a factor, depending on finance how about the Volvo XC 70 superb ground clearance and a very good strong diesel engine that delivers around 30 mpg, Personally I think there is more than a passing similarity to the Porsche cayenne at a fraction of the price!. However I could be barking completely up the wrong tree. In a similar vein to the legacy have you thought about the Mitsubishi evo, very very good cars, but VERY expensive to run, good as they are I find them a little naff. To be honest this a difficult question to answer as I don’t really know what budget you have in mind whether or not you need the vehicle for a particular purpose, towing, off road or quasi 4x4 etc however being a self confessed ‘petrol head’ I would gladly answer your question should you like me to. As an after though how about the Ford Mondeo ST Dci Saloon or the very good estate version in its diesel form this car will return around 40 to 50 mpg have plenty of space in the back and bowl along at a fair pace thanks to the ST set up-,well worth a look of course the petrol would deliver even more punch. I could ramble on all day, let me know what’s what and ill help best I can

Regards

DMK.
