Alternator failed.
General comments?
I bought this car for $300 back in 2003. My family has been hooked on Subarus for years, and I thought it would be a good buy. What a great investment it was! I bought the car with 141,000 miles on it, and it still looked and ran like new. The front brake rotors were warped when I bought the car, but I considered this normal for a car of this age. While I have had the car the intake manifold gasket blew, but I still was able to make it home without overheating the car. The alternator failed as well, but with my mechanical skills, I had it replaced in 10 minutes. I consider the above problems to be normal for a 12-year old car, especially with the kind of miles my Subaru has! Right after I got the car I got a job requiring me to drive over 80 miles a day. The Subaru has taken it with no sweat! It gets 30MPG on the highway going to work and back every day, and runs great on regular unleaded. It's a station wagon and has plenty of room to haul stuff; when I was moving I managed to move everything I own with it. It's also well decked out for a base economy car. Very comfortable! Has more power options than I've ever had in a car. Really the only thing I'd want more of in the car is power. It struggles a bit climbing the mountains, but otherwise has plenty of power to pull its weight. The 4 wheel drive system is excellent. The car took me through 2 feet of snow with no problems at all. My co-workers who own Chevy and Ford trucks are impressed by its ability to gain traction on slick surfaces. This car was one heck of a bargain!!!
