1999 Subaru Outback 30th anniversary lmtd review from North America
"This car is a nightmare for the owner"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Just before I bought it the speedometer and oilpan gasket were replaced.
I had the car a couple months and the alarm/keyless entry died. Subaru dealer said just put a new non factory one on as this one was to costly to fix
Wheel bearing went out after about 3,000 miles and took out an ABS sensor with it.
Knock sensor went out at 123000 miles
Now the final straw Head gasket blown at 128000
I paid 6,000 for this car a yr ago and now put 5,000 into repairs in 12 months and 1 week. I had a 15 yr old tracker that I paid 2,000 for and never came close to this kind stuff. Also had a 94 Pontiac Transport only paid 2400 for and only had to buy tires, a battery, and ABS sensor it 4 yrs of driving itwith over 100,000 miles.
General comments?
The Subaru is very comfortable and made it thru our worst blizzard in yrs, but at this price I can't afford it
For the list price it should have better storage space and a few options intermittent wiper on the rear.
