2001 Subaru Outback Wagon review from North America

Driver's door window leaking air.

Numerous squeaks and rattles.

Driver's door window on new 2001 Subaru Outback began to leak air

after owning car for 6 months. Over the last 3 years, dealer has attempted to

fix this problem no less than 12 (that's TWELVE!) times. After attempting to

again fix the problem earlier this year, they failed to securely reattach the

weather stripping on the bottom of the door, which they had removed to work on

the door. The weather stripping now hangs down and interferes with the closing of

the door. I have been back twice to have them properly attach the weather

stripping, each time it came off again within days. Now that the car is out of

warranty, they say they need to replace the inner door panel for $400. I

complained that this is an ongoing problem directly caused by their attempted

repair of the air leak. They referred the problem to Subaru of America, and they say they will pay, one time only, 30% of the cost of this repair. This is an

insult to a family that purchased 2 new Subaru's from this dealer. Both this

Outback and our 1999 Forester also have more squeaks and rattles than a 15 year

old pick-up truck. Needless to say, we will never buy another Subaru, and

will never spend another nickel at this dealer.
