Nothing has gone wrong with this car as of yet!
This is my second Subaru, and near as I can tell I'll never own anything, but Subaru!
Lets start with the few Cons: I have the Special Edition Outback Sport (based on the Impreza) The upgraded audio system is great, except the door mounted speakers cause an annoying rattling in the door panels when the bass is cranked. The speakers can totally handle it, but the molded plastic can't! I solved the issue by lodging a large wad of medical gauze into the compartment on the bottom of the door. You can see it, but it still bugs me. The drivers seat is a bit uncomfortable on long drives, but hugs you nicely in curves! Other than that, NO complaints!
PROS: Everyone knows about the legendary AWD on Subarus, and this car is not different. I owned a standard previously and feel that its performance in snow was superior to the the automatic transmission. This is probably owing to the my older car having a true 50/50 split and not relying on a viscous clutch to engage. It happens in a blink of an eye, but I've been driving in snow all my life and can really tell the difference. It is still unstoppable in the snow, but not QUITE as nimble. Otherwise it scoots along like mad, is wicked fun to drive and makes me feel safe!
Known for AWD, based on Jeep viscous coupling of the 70's. Variable torque split tanks to GM purchase of New Venture Gear, manufacturer of patented Jeep design. They also by the same time bought the right to use the design for the GM partially owned Subaru...
This is my first Subaru. I bought a 2005 Subaru Outback LL Bean edition and I absolutely love it!!! I don't know what the AWD is going to be like in Vermont winters, but I've heard from friends who have Subaru's that they are the best!!
The car is comfortable and peppy. I love the features and I feel like I'm in a NASA car with everything that it does! My dog loves the room in the way back!! Great looking ride!!
