1992 Subaru SVX LSi review from North America
"Find a good, clean example and drive it forever"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Power steering reservoir leaked, made groaning sound when turning sometimes. Replaced the O-ring between reservoir and pump, simple fix.
Added rubber to the rear sub frame mounts to stiffen them back up.
Replaced the original sway bar bushings with urethane.
Added transmission cooler and remote filter for longevity.
Automatic All wheel drive is not so great on the earlier years, jerky operation.
General comments?
Where to start? This is such a great car, I wish I could have kept it. First off, the shape of the car is to die for, sleek, sharp front end with a low roof line and relatively wide stance. All the body and glass joints are smooth and the windows are fun.
The engine is smooth, good power (not sports car power, but good GT car power), and bulletproof. This is probably one of the best road trip cars I could think of - for the price. Comfortable, reliable, all the amenities you need in the car (except a cup holder). Only problem I found was unwanted attention at gas stations and parking lots, but you get used to it.
All in all a great value and sheer pleasure to drive. I will own one again. Had to sell it to make room for a car better suited to autocross duties.
