"Great value for the price"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing,,,,,, yet.

General comments?

Very impressed with handling and overall ride of vehicle.

The a/c cools car quickly and the heater puts out sooooo much heat.

Don't understand why cruise control didn't come standard on this car, considering all the other options it came with.

The seat adjustment should drop just a bit more in the rear than it does.

Love the visibilty the headlights put out.

Overall fit is good and tight. just have to close the doors firmly when exiting the car or the dome light stays on.

I bought a Suzuki Forenza 12-2005. The next day, the check engine light came on. I have taken the car to the dealer twice. They keep clearing codes, resetting... The light has come on again. They tell me it will not affect the drivability however, lights come on for a reason. I feel as though I am getting the run around. Good for you for not having any problems with your car!!

To the person who wrote the above comment: You need to take your car to another dealer. Remember, you don't have to take your car to the dealer you bought it at. They should not just reset the codes and tell you "it's OK to drive it". You're right, they are coming on for a reason. The engine light on our '05 Forenza came on and it was the thermostat. If that's what it is you DO NOT want to drive your car. They replaced ours, under warranty, and gave us a loaner car. Good luck.

Proceeding up a bridge in my Suzuki Forenza, the engine died taking out the power steering and brakes. The Forenza began to roll backwards into oncoming and merging traffic in a two-lane construction area. I was able to avoid a serious multi-car accident with quick use of the emergency brake. The dealer wasn't immediately sure what went wrong and contacted Suzuki Tech Support. Sight unseen, they were told to order a list of parts including water pump, timing belt and complete head assembly. Suzuki denied the frequent occurrence of this failure, but knew the exact parts to

replace? The water pump pulley had been installed backwards, allowing the timing belt to skip.

This vehicle had 9769 miles and I had owned it less than six months when this happened. After 15 days in the shop, the dealership returned the vehicle to me with a "re-manufactured" cylinder head. Kathy, an American Suzuki Motor Corporation customer service representative said to read my warranty book... that this is an

acceptable practice... I bought a new car, I expect it to safely and reliably get me from point "A" to point "B", and should it require warranty repair for extensive engine damage, I demand the use of new parts.

I had one representative from Suzuki, Jeff, return my call and promised a call back Monday, March 6, 2006. He called two weeks later and followed up with a letter stating the vehicle was "operating as designed" and that Suzuki offered no further assistance.

I have since contacted an attorney.

You might want to also get your insurance company involved (assuming you are on good terms with your agent) since they obviously have a HUGE obligation if "you" cause a major accident when the cars fails to operate as designed.

A good insurance agent will realize that prevention is better than what could result otherwise.

I have also had trouble with my Check Engine light at different times with my Forenza. The problem is reported back to me as being a "vapor seal leak with the gas cap".

I tend to think they're telling the truth, cuz when the light has come on again, if I tinker with the cap, it goes out.

Granted, that's not the fix I'm looking for, but after taking it in the 3rd time, they did replace the seal with one out of a showroom car.

That's another example of Suzuki not ordering new parts, but using "new" ones off of other cars. But 6 months later, I have not had the problem return.

Service department has always been very nice as well. Just recently bought a second Forenza.

I have a 04 suzuki forenza and it was in a small wreck, but now seat belts are locked up, I don't know if it is normal and I have to replace the belts or what. if anyone come accross it, please respond back.

The locked seatbelts are likely to be as a result of the pretensioners at work. These devices tighten the seatbelt in the event of a crash, pulling the occupant away from the dashboard/steeringwheel and back into the seat. My girlfriend's Sentra had the same problem as well. A new seatbelt assembly is the solution. Good luck.

Hi

The Suzuki Forenza selling in America is built by GM-Daewoo cars, but not from actual Suzuki line-up.

The same car sells in India with Chevy name plate on it.

Thanks.

These cars are cheap to buy. But don't complain about power. Gas MPG is the focus. Where you drive this car is important. If you have steep hills, move up in horse power, it'll save a lot of trouble.

I bought the car brand new so that means a good car?wrong!!! my forenza has caused me nothing, but pain. the lights keep coming on and the car will stop driving for awhile. i have been to the dealer10 times about my car and they keep reseting the codes. this is b/s, i paid good money for a dependable car and I got stuck with a lemon. the company won't do anything about it. I tried the trade in thing, but the money out of pocket was unheard of. any advice?

I purchased a brand new 2005 Forenza. Twenty one days after driving it off the lot the "check engine light" appeared. I took it in, I was told it needed an altitude adjustment, I live in Colorado.

Since then I have had the car in at least 8 additional times for the same reason "check engine light".

I was told repeatedly that this is not a lemon. However, each time when I have brought it in to the dealer fixed the problem.

Every time they have reset the codes.

- "gas cap" not on tight enough, twice when I brought it in this was what was discovered.

- "install an SOP purge soleniod"

- "performed diagnostic and inspection, has history code PO496. Reprogramed"

- "purge valve, parts have been special ordered"

- March '07: "replaced ecmand idle relearn"

- June '07: "vapor seal leak"

- 3 wks ago "check engine light" on. Immediately called & took to dealer/service center. Was informed that "a new computer needed to be ordered, current computer faulty"

- 2 wks ago "new computer installed" informed "all set problems are behind us"

- 1 wk ago "check engine light" on. Call dealer immediately. Took in the next day (Saturday). Got a call mid day Monday that the Factory has opened up an investigation and that a recall is forthcoming." I informed the dealer that I was not picking up the car until I knew it was safe to drive. Just as someone commented up above earlier I also believe that lights come on for a reason. They have also told me that the lights coming on will not affect the driveability, and that I should pay no attention to them. I too believe that lights come on for a reason. Monday I called Suzuki Customer Service and they opened a claim. I was to get a call back in 48hrs, but as of today, 72 hours later no call back. I have called the representative back and left a msg. I am now sending a certified letter of complaint.

I also made the purchase in good faith that I was buying a safe and reliable vehicle.

I will say that the Service Center team at the dealership has been attentive, helpful and consciencious in attempting to fix the problem.

I have an 04 forenza, and in the begining, I loved it!! that all changed once it reached the 28,000mi mark.. it suddenly began to have a very rough idle, and it would hesitate severely when you would try to accelerate... no longer live close to any suzuki dealers, so when I finally got it to the shop, it was at 32,000.. they kept my car for a week... every day I called for an update, and they had nothin to tell me. finally I went in person and was told "oh you probably just need an injection cleaning, timing belt tightened, and a tune-up" I had already had a tune-up, and had previously had the fuel injectors checked and they were fine. a week later my I had someone call the parts department pretending to need a new fuel filter for my car, turns out forenzas don't have fuel filters.. last time I checked even lawn mowers had fuel filters... but long story short, the parts guy was a very honest man, and went on to say that this was a problem suzuki was having with its forenzas and veronas.. and that suzuki had no clue what was wrong with their cars.. he also said everything they had told me to have done to "fix" the problem, wasnt fixing anything, it was more or less a quick fix that didn't last more than a month or two...

Ill never own another suzuki.

I bought a 2005 Forenza last in about July '06. I bought it from a salvage dealership that buys cars that are typically either stolen and recovered or have been through some type of damaging storm or flood. The car I purchased was flooded about up to the bottom of the dashboard. You may know that the airbag computer is located in the center console (lower than the dashboard), and it was fried. I found another computer online and had it shipped to my house and I simply plugged it in and the airbag light went off. Other than that and the fact that the carpet had to be removed to dry I have had no problems at all with my car.

Most of the problems I've seen on this site are the check engine light. 90% of the time the check engine light comes on it is not a big deal. It happens to cars all over the country every day. Suzuki has been having some problems with the main computer in the car and that is what causes the light to come on. Most of the time it is reporting a faulty code because the computer is faulty. Don't immediately jump to conclusions and think you need a new computer, but take it somewhere else for a diagnosis, another dealer or any repair shop can do a diagnosis.

Most things about this car are a lot better than similarly priced cars. I would probably buy another one if I was in the market.

Purchased this Suzuki forenza in 05. It has 40,000 miles and leaks oil. This was my first purchase of a Suzuki product and also my last. The quality of the vehicle is very poor.

I have also purchased a 05 forenza and has had numerous of problems such as modulator, sway bar, wheel bearrings water pump, timing belt, just got recall letter about headlights overheating of the wiring and have a real bad squeaking noise while driving across a bump especially when it is cold. temp gage going up and down anti-freezer leak around gasket and was told it was something to do with my exhaust gasket deteriorating so I am going to take it to another dealer and see if they can solve my problem, and still they consider this no lemon
