I own a 2005 Suzuki Forenza S Wagon. I purchased it in March 2007. When I bought it the Check Engine light was on. Apparently it had to do with the sensor in the passenger seat for the air bag. Since owning this vehicle, I have had a bad seat sensor, a bad gas tank solenoid purge valve, a bad shift solenoid, there is a coolant leak somewhere as my coolant got low somehow, and now it is misfiring (the check engine light is actually flashing now). I bought this car as my first "Non-Beater" vehicle. I feel like I have been screwed. Don't buy Suzuki.

We purchased a used 2005 Suzuki Forenza Wagon in March of 2006 - The car had 18K miles and was still under warranty. Our first trip out of town the check engine light came on & the car ran, but would not accelerated at a very low rate. We took it in & were told it was a "software issue". The light has come on several times since then, with parking brake, software issues & the gas cap being the culprits. We then got a letter stating the water pump/timing belt system was under recall. When we took the car in, they told us there was also a recall for the side air bags, and that our engine was leaking oil (the car had 39K miles at this point). That was about a month ago - Just yesterday we received another recall notice regarding something with the electrical system for the headlights. 3 recalls for one car seems excessive & I no longer feel safe driving my family around in it! Too bad we owe more than it is worth!

I bought a brand new 05 Forenza in March of 05. It ran great and never gave me any problems until last fall. After being at a stop light and trying to accelerate, my car felt like it was in neutral, even though it was still in drive. The check engine light came on, but after shutting off the car and restarting it, the light and problem were gone. I brought the car in, and the dealer said it was a computer glitch. The computer was reset.

About 6 weeks ago, my car acted up again. This time, the car would start shaking and the check engine light would flash, but not stay on. I have brought the car in for this problem, and the code for the light is not registering. The dealership cannot figure out what the problem is, but the problem has continued. My warranty is up at the end of this month and I am worried. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem in the beginning when I purchase my car, and it was a bad modulator, so see if that helps you out. I'm having a lot of squeaking problems around the entire car; can't seem to find out what it is.

I was also like to know why is the same problems occurring with the 04 Forenza that the 05's are having; seems to be something fishy with that.

I have an 04 forenza that has had its engine light on about 7 times.. Its been the fuel cap 3 times.. one other time they said it was the thermostat sticking but the car never overheated, and then the light went out... so I never took it back. I've actually had my engine light come on after driving through a puddle. I'm starting to ignore the light unless I note something is wrong with the car. They charge me $99.00 everytime they hook my car onto that computer. I just came back from the dealer today for my headlight recall.. my low beam bulb on the left side had blown... so they changed the wiring and then charged me 35.00 to put a new bulb in. Does the headlight wiring defect cause the bulb to blow? If it does..I want my money back. Anyone know?

I bought a new 2008 Suzuki Forenza with just 9 miles on it in February 2008.

The check engine light came on about 90 days later. I took the car into the dealer, and they told me it was some code dealing with the gas pedal, and the car not firing correctly. I got the car back and a week later the light came back on, and while driving straight the car will just shut off. Yes it turns right back on, but it's very aggravating.

I took the car back to the shop; they claimed to have fixed the problem, but when I told them I was going out of town, the story changed and they put me in a rental.

I believe Suzuki have no clue what's is going on with these cars, and they are unable to tell me when I will be able to get my car back.

I have a 2006 Suzuki Forenza wagon I bought used with 11,000 miles on it.

I had no problem with it until it got to 68,000 miles when the power steering pump just exploded in it. This caused a chain reaction, which caused the belt to bind up the fly wheel pulley, which in turn broke the timing belt, which destroyed the engine.

When I first called the dealer about the power steering pump (before I knew it ruined the motor) to find out if it was under warranty, he asked me which power steering pump it had on it??? I am a machine mechanic and very mechanically inclined, but could not tell him. He said there were two different pumps listed for that car. Why? Did they have problems with one of them and replace it with another? Has anybody had power steering issues with this vehicle??

The dealer replaced the pump and the engine at no charge at first with no hesitation, which led me to believe they had seen this before, but now they called me and said I have to pay for the power steering pump ($700.00). Unfortunately they have the car because the transmission sensor went out and had to be replaced ($200.00), (2 major sensor gone, 1st was steering column sensor for $400.00) and I have not yet picked the car back up.

I bought the car last March 2007 and it has been in the shop now for a total of about 3 months. Any comments or suggestions?

I have a 2006 Forenza. I hate it!! I love the look, hate the mechanics.

After owning it 1 week, my dash caught on fire -- there was a recall on the headlamp wiring thing. That was fixed.

Then, my seatbelt/airbag light came on. I took it to the dealer, and they informed me that the light had come on because at some point before I bought it, the battery had died and so that made the airbag light come on several months later. They reset the code, and within a few weeks, the light was back on.

Now they tell me that because all of the wiring for the seatbelt and safety system are under the seats, if anything gets under the seat (i.e. a sippy cup, I have a 3 year old) that it will cause the light to come on.

Well, after having the code reset 3 times now for it coming on for NO reason, it is now back on, and I don't know if there is a serious problem that needs to be checked out now, or if it's just the wires getting hit by something rolling in my floorboard.

Also, my check engine light just came on. Unfortunately the closest Suzuki dealership is 45 minutes away, and they have the system locked so no one around here can check the code on my warning lights that seem to continuously be on!!! I will not buy one again, and do not recommend this car to anyone!!

I have a 2004 Suzuki Forenza. I bought it new and tonight the engine light came on for the first time.

I just replaced the head lights on the left side. I didn't get a recall on that. The wiring was fine when the new lights were put in.

I have to go 2 to 3 hours drive to a Suzuki dealership, because the one where I live closed. I'm hoping this is it, and I can get the light to go off and nothing more.

It's been a pretty good car. I only have about 21000 miles on it.

I have a Forenza; what a great vehicle. I have had some issue with the vehicle air bag light, check engine light many times. In and out of the shop. The warranty covers rental, so I was placed in a car. Gave the dealer room to breath, and now my car is running fine.

I performed my 30,000 mile service. I think power steering pump failed at 47,000, because I did not perform the power steering flush. That's MY FAULT.

I bought a 2005 Suzuki Forenza in August of 2005. The car was brand new, with only about 5 miles on it. It has been problematic ever since. It was an impulse buy, and now I wish I had never bought a Suzuki. The transmission had to be entirely replaced in Feb. 2007. The dealer I bought the car from told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with me car and literally made me feel dumb about it. The reason I took my car into the service garage was because my car stalled out in the middle of a busy intersection with no warning. The engine light came on and there was a strong burning smell. I practically had to push my car to the dealership. For them to tell me nothing was wrong was just a flat out lie. Well, I managed to get my car to another dealership (an hour away) and within 20 min they told me my transmission was completely shot and they could not believe the other dealership did not see that. I had a rental car for 2 weeks and they fixed my car. It worked fine for about 6 months and my engine light has come on countless times since. I have taken it to a car repair shop (because my original dealer completely stopped servicing Suzuki) and they have done all they said they can do. In the last 2 weeks I have spent $500 on car repair and parts that I don't even know for sure if they got fixed properly. I still have quite a bit to pay on my loan so this feels like a helpless situation. I take VERY good care of things that I own, and it angers me that I would pay so much for something just to have it not work like it should. I recommend staying away from a Suzuki.

We bought our 2004 Forenza brand new. Since we've had it we have had nothing but problems with it. The check engine light is constantly coming on.

This last time the check engine light came on there is a loud hissing noise coming form the engine compartment. Took it to a local repair shop. Guy said there is a gap where the head gasket is and the head gasket leaking is the source of the problem.

Fora car that only has 64,000 miles this is unacceptable.

I would just like to know if anyone else might be having the same problem as with my 2006 Suzuki Forenza. I've been told its the transmission ring switch or sensor. It goes out of gear while going down the road. It feels like it is in neutral. The check engine light comes on and the gear shifter (it's an automatic) has a D with a slash through it on the display panel. I have to shake and move back and forth the gear shifter until finally (thank goodness I have not been in a wreck) it goes back to drive. The ck engine light stays on for a day or two and then goes off. I've checked with the dealership and they said because it has 37000 miles on it, it is not covered in the warranty anymore and because I didn't have All of the oil changes done (some were done at Tire Kingdom or Walmart at the dealership) they didn't feel I was loyal to Suzuki and they will not do the repairs under goodwill toward the customer act. Its not a engine problem. I don't think I should be having this problem with a car with just 37000 miles on it, and it has had already 3 or 4 recalls on it that I had to take time at the dealership to be fixed. I would NOT buy another Suzuki product again.

If any one is having problems with the airbag lights coming on all of the time, this is what you do. I had this problem and they kept telling me that the seats had to be perfectly upright before starting the car... anyway go back to the dealer and they can go under the seat and zip tie the wires under the seat which control the airbag function... they will try to charge you to do some fancy soldering job, but don't fall for it, just have them to zip tie them and the lights won't come on anymore.
