Bought my '06 wagon in October '06. It has 49k miles on it and has started making a loud knocking noise. Took it to the dealership and 1st mechanic tells us that the motor has come off of the mount and is banging. That would be covered under power train warranty. 5 days later 2nd mechanic calls us and says it's not that, it's the power steering pump going out and will cost us $700.00 to get it replaced, of course it is NOT covered under warranty. I have never heard a power steering pump make this sound and make the entire car shake while driving. Not to mention that I have had no issues steering. This car should not be having power steering issues, it is NOT that old.

We've also had issues with the air bag light. We were told it was no big deal, just a glitch with the computer. I am also not happy with all of the recalls on a 2 year old car.

I have what I now believe to be one of the pesky Suzuki Forenza. I bought my car this year from a dealer, and joy of joy, the check engine light came on within 2 weeks. Lucky for me I found an honest mechanic who retightened my gas cap and sent me on my merry way.

Well now on three occasions while driving, it seems my auto transmission slips from Drive - a line actually appears in the centre of the D.

Told that I need a new trans at $2,500. Well upon more investigation it seems my trans ring needs changing and the trans computer updated. A fraction of the cost.

Please be aware that most mechanics are pretty much like most Suzuki dealers - clueless.

I purchased a 2005 Wagon. It started out riding smoothly. Now the check engine lights comes on all of the time as well as the airbag light. I thought the check engine light was due to the gas cap...I would take the cap on and off...the light would go out for a couple of days.

Then the car started riding like it was in neutral. Took it to the dealer... had the transmission sensor replaced.

Hey guys, we own a 06 Suzuki Forenza and are having many of the same problems that you are i.e. check engine light on and also driving like it is in neutral, as well as the car not recognizing the difference between reverse and neutral!

After you replaced the transmission sensor, has anyone still experienced the same problems? We do not want to take the car in more than once for the same problems to keep occurring; should we get a different car...?

I purchased a 2005 Suzuki Forenza in May 2007. My oil light came on and I went to Jiffy Lube to have the oil changed. Much to my surprise, they said that I had a major oil leak and suggested that I have it checked out. Well, I had it checked out and it appears that I need an oil pump. I am not the first owner of this car and did not purchase an extended warranty. I was told to call the Suzuki dealership to see if the first owner purchased factory warranty. Does anybody have any suggestions other suggestions? I still have car payments on this car for the next couple of years!

I bought an 05 Forenza last summer, and like most others I have nothing good to say about it.

First mud got onto a serpentine belt, which broke and screwed up my cooling system. After that things got better for a few months.

In January I heard a clicking noise while driving. Turns out it was the alternator. It had completely fallen apart.

Now it's burning through coolant incredibly fast. There is no leak or anything and no one can figure out what is wrong with it. It's ridiculous the amount of problems that I am having with this car.

I have a 2005 Forenza. My check engine light comes on and off. It sounds like it starts off in neutral very slow. I am very disappointed that I had to replace my brake light switch. Does anyone know why my check engine light stays on? The bad thing is I have two more years to pay for it.

I purchased a used 2006 Suzuki Forenza in October 2008 with 25k miles on it. 5 months later I start getting all this electrical problems which have been fixed. But now I am stuck with the problem of fixing the Neutral Safety Switch because as per the mechanic, this is what the computer is indicating. We have 4 1/2 years more to pay for this vehicle that we can't use, and we have a hard time finding part to fix it locally. On the mean time I am paying for something that is parked on my driveway. I will NEVER buy a Suzuki again, so PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM A SUZUKI!!!

Here in Costa Rica, some body is selling Suzuki Forenzas for a great price, so I went to the official Suzuki dealership to know if they have part for this car, and they told me than this model is the same Chevrolet Optra sold here and other countries, it is very cheap because it is made in Korea, and the dealership here they sell only Japanese ones, they don´t want to take the risk with its quality while competing with the Chevy´s dealership... So my question is why if Chevy knows about it, don´t they do anything to improve the quality. The stand to lose costumers every time they get disappointed?

I have been driving a Vitara and almost changed to one of those, but I still believe in Suzuki quality...

I bought a 2005 Forenza in May 2005. In two weeks the check engine light was on, it was a PCV valve. Two years ago I stopped to get an oil change. I was told the head gasket was leaking. I took it to the dealer; they said they replaced the gasket, two months later when I replaced the spark plugs, all 4 of the plug holes were completely full of oil and it smells like oil is burning all the time. Check engine light is on all the time and the seatbelt light has been on for three years now. Two trips to the dealer to have it fixed have not done it.

I also have the same problems listed her with the Transmission slipping and going into neutral. I have also seen the D with the slash through the center. I'm hoping to get enough people to submit a complaint to the government so they force Suzuki to look into this. I could see if it was an isolated event, but it looks like a lot of us are having the same problem!

You can file a complaint here: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm

Once you file a complaint, if you could please e-mail me @ dotcomkatie@gmail.com so that I have a heads up on how many people have submitted complaints!

Thanks so much!

I bought a 2006 Suzuki Forenza (in 2006) with just 8 miles on it. I was thrilled to finally have a new car that was covered by a warranty.

It ran great for the first year, and then the problems began. My transmission kept slipping and it would flash d with a line through it. The dealer fixed the problem, but of course it wasn't covered by warranty.

Then one day I couldn't get it to shift out of park. The dealer fixed this problem too, but it wasn't covered either.

Now it overheats if I am in a drive thru, the air conditioner doesn't work half the time, and the engine light is on. It runs really rough and it still feels like there may be a transmission problem.

I have brought this car in to be serviced at the dealer on a regular basis and taken good care of it. I am now afraid to drive any distance, and very disappointed. Can we say lemon???

I have an 04 Suzuki Forenza, and a few months after buying it used, it started to die in turns. Now it dies in turns, at stops, on the freeway, pretty much all the time. No lights come on. At the dealer there were no codes. When it dies the radio and air stays on. It's pretty scary driving the car and no one seems to be able to help. I'm still making payments, so I want to be able to drive my car safely. Can anyone help?

I bought a 2008 Suzuki Forenza with 11,000 miles less than a week ago, and I'm already having issues. The check engine light is on and something is wrong with the transmission (it jerks when it shifts gears-didn't realize this could be a problem with an automatic!) Wish I had done more research on Suzuki before my purchase.

2005, Suzuki Forenza, is not a safe vehicle, and it has too many overall problems for a new vehicle.

I have a 2005, and had the timing belt snap, because of the manufacturer defect in installing the water pump pulley backwards.

The head had to go machine shop.

The alternator has failed, and the inside evaporator fan is intermittent.

The driver's side electric power window motor has failed.

Replaced the air intake plastic housing three times at 95.00 per cost.

The driver's door handle fell apart in my hand when the car was new. I replaced it myself, and had to have this part painted to match the rest of the body.

All four shocks have been replaced.

I now hear slight bearing noise from the front end. This vehicle has very low miles, and this should not happen. I have had many cars in the past with excess of 200,000 miles and have not had these type of problems.

I think the Gov't should look into safety of this vehicle. Thank you for letting me comment.

Sincerely, Steve Selwach. Miami, Fl.
