1992 Suzuki Swift Sedan L review from North America

"The perfect poverty rocket"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Previously owned by my mother.

Resonator went about 150,000km, replaced with a straight pipe

Transmission has grown notchy since about 125,000km. Guessing the synchros are out of alignment. Has completely locked up once. Shifter would not move period, clutch in or out... got it unstuck and it hasn't given me any trouble since (knock on wood).

Clutch has become somewhat mushy, started about 135,000km, due to my driving at the time.

New clutch & transmission rebuild are on the way as soon as I can pay for it all.

General comments?

Tires are a pain to find... It runs 165/65R13's (Bridgestone is the only company I know of that makes All Season tires in that size, mega $$$), as opposed to the hatch's 155/70's (which are a dime a dozen). Looking to go to 14" rims, but I don't know what sizes will fit...

1.3L SOHC is pretty punchy, noted better throttle response & acceleration when the resonator was replaced with a straight pipe. It'll still chirp the tires going into second, even with the mushy clutch/notchy transmission.

Can't find any HP, Torque, or Redline specs for the engine, or gear ratios for the transmission. Can't find a Hayne's Manual for it. I can't find ANYONE who deals with aftermarket/OEM body kits/aero parts for it either.

If anyone can help me find Aero Parts, Tires, or Specs, please email me at crash1701@hotmail.com

Sharp looking, if somewhat subdued. Fair handling, good punch for its size, and 40+ MPG to boot... DOOD!
