I also have a 2004 Suzuki Verona that frequently has the "Check Engine" light appear and that surges and/or stalls. I have brought this car into the dealer at least 6 times and every time, they say the diagnostic test shows nothing and they know nothing of any problem like this across the product (recall or service bulletin).

Overall, my 2005 Verona has been in the shop 13 times for the 10 months I've own it. They replaced oxygen sensors numerous times, reflashed the ECM numerous times, replaced the ECM, replaced the throttle body, replaced the battery, etc. I got the Suzuki district manager involved only because I told them that they have paid twice in warranty bills than the car is worth. To add to my aggravation Suzuki discontinued the Verona line, will not recognize the engine stalling problems as a safety issue and I can't use my State's Lemon Law. Suzuki is still touting their "best warranty" slogan which is a joke; I'm sick of getting free warranty work, roadside assistance and courtesy car once/twice a month. I feel like I bought a warranty and not a car. Someone should tell Suzuki the best warranty is the one that isn't used!

I also have a 2004 Suzuki Verona and up to now no big problems, I did have to replace the factory tires at 30,000 miles-they were at the cores already, but now at 54,000 the thing is falling apart, turn signals stick, now the battery is dead!!! Each time I had taken it to the dealer for a oil change they would clean the stems on the battery and now just in time for the next oil change I have to purchase a new battery and cables..$230.00 just in parts, because you cannot purchase parts any where else...

I will back into my Pontiac as soon as I can!!!

Sigh, here's my sob story: I bought my '04 Suzuki Verona EX with only 50 miles on it. Here are only a few of the problems I've had with it since I bought it...

- replaced oxygen sensors 2x

- flashed the EPDM system 2x

- replaced the hub & coil on the front, right ABS brake

- replaced the map sensor 2x

- replaced the main engine gasket because oil was leaking into the spark plugs

- my AC blows warm air when I stop at a light, but according to the service dept there is nothing wrong with it

- replaced the stereo for bad CD player, waited 3 months for it to arrive from the factory.

And today, back in the shop because the wipers died and its starting to stall and surge again. The 3 yr unconditional warranty expired on 4/26 and the Suzuki rep said they would repair it as an act of good faith. For now I'm enjoying the loaner vehicle. Today I came online to look into trading in my Verona for another Suzuki because of all the "rebates" like the "customer loyalty" and such. I have to find somewhere to bury the $5,000 of negative equity!

One good rating from me though...Love The Look!

I have a Suzuki Verona I love the car, but some jerk ran a red light and struck the driver side of my car. The only problem I have is, it's taken over a month and still no parts they company keep telling me the parts will be here in 3 more days every time I call.

I have a 2004 Verona and I HATE this car with a passion. It is the biggest piece of crap I have ever purchased. I bought this car with 8500 miles and that was April of 05. I currently still have the thing only because, as you all know, it carries a ton of negative equity. Almost 5230! I have had this car in the shop more than 75 times in two years, and that has nothing to with regular maintenance. All I keep getting is the same crap over and over it is now idling at almost 212 rpm at a stop light. Also, has anyone had any problems with their fuel tanks? It takes me 20 minutes to refuel my Verona due to every gallon overflowing, but ya now there is no problem. If anyone has any words of wisdom on how to get rid of these cars let me know...

Good luck and I am so sorry for anyone who owns a 04 SUZUKI VERONA.

I took my 2004 Verona in because the check engine light came on. You know you've got a bad car when the service department whispers to you that you need to dump the car as soon as possible. Two service guys told me the same thing--these cars are junk, get rid of it.

When I bought it, I loved the price point for all the bells and whistles it came with. I also loved the fact that it was so quiet. Now, I'm embarrassed to drive down my street in it because it's so loud. The gas mileage is horrendous (it would almost be worth it to dump the car for something else just to save on the $3.30/gallon gas prices in SoCal). The computer has been replaced and I've had to replace the interior door handles twice because the finish was rubbing off. The seat warmers no longer work and the steering wheel radio controls are tempermental. Most of this started happening right after I hit 36,000 miles (the computer was a factory recall). I should have spent the extra $5000 to get the Accord that I really would have preferred anyhow. It looks like I'll be in the market for a new car anyhow--the Verona, for all its professed roominess doesn't fit my infant car seat! Live and learn, I guess!

Oh, the check engine light problem? The gas cap wasn't sealed properly. What a waste of several hours to determine that. At least they didn't charge me the $100 diagnostic fee.

I just bought a 2006 Suzuki Forenza 2.0 16v Manual, and I love it. I always heard bad things about Suzuki's line, but I have to say, I'm impressed. I do have after-market tires on it, but that's nothing. I didn't even want this car, but got it for the safety of my family. Now I never want to stop driving it. It's tuned to run regular gas, which I was skeptic at first... but I get just as good gas mileage as I did with high grade, without losing the nice torque it has as well. I do hate how hard it is to get things for Suzuki's though, but you can get past that if you know the counter-part on the other side of the pond. I just had to chime in when I read this forum. I guess I got lucky, sorry to you guys who have had bad experiences.

I placed a comment about a month ago about my Verona and how much of a piece of crap it was. Hey, guess what, three days later I had to take it to the shop for stalling, and almost getting myself and my kids in an accident, but luckily it didn't. Anyhow, I AM GETTING a new motor and transmission at 53000 miles, and you wanna tell me these are great cars, come on now...

TO add the icing on the cake, the smart mouthed mechanic told me if I didn't drive like a GIRL then this would not be happening!!!??? Still trying to figure out where he gets his info, since this was my first time meeting him???

VERONAS ARE A HORRIBLE INVESTMENT. Here is how I know: THEY NOW LONGER MAKE THEM???

In August 2006, I purchased a new Suzuki Forenza. I purchased it because the cars all said "35 MPG" all over the windows at the dealership. Within 30 days the check engine light came on, the the dealer said it was a O2 sensor. They were out of stock at the time. Two months later and 3 more check engine lights later, the dealer get new O2 sensors in. Well, to wrap this up quickly, my car gets between 11 & 17 mpg when the light is on which is more often than not. I have sent a certified letter to Suzuki Corp requesting that they buyback this lemon. I understand it is in Arbitration and they e-mailed me to get service tickets (guess they wanted to see if I really had documents to support a court case). Wish me luck!!!

Well I see I am not in this alone. I purchased my 2004 Suzuki Verona Dec of 2005. And have been having problems ever since. Stalling, Pulling, Cutting Off at any given time while I'm on 95. My mileage is at 33,000miles and already so many parts have been replaced for the same issues with no good results. I've had Map Sensors, Throttle Body, Belts Replaced and the latest is Engine Harness. Horrible for Suzuki to even sell theses cars. The worst part is paying a car note on a vehicle that doesn't operate properly. I would suggest you contact LEMON LAW as I did. Now I'm waiting for an outcome.

The worst car I ever owned is my 2005 Suzuki Verona, (my first brand new car ever) I lost count on how many times its been in the shop, transmission replaced at 20,000 miles, airbag repairs at least four times, new tires at 25,000 miles, windshield wipers stopped working in middle of blizzard, key stopped working, only can get key through Suzuki, many other things, now heres the big one, engine went at 26,000 miles! I feel like I am driving a four cylinder car. Suzuki also has horrible customer service!

I have had the Suzuki Verona 2004 for three years now. It has 53,000 miles on it. Two months after I bought it the check engine light came on. I took it to the Dealer and they said that the computer module needed to be replaced. They did that and the car was fine for a few more month's. The check engine light came back on and they said it was a bad spark module. A few month's after that the check engine light came on and they said it was a bad fuel air mixture. It came on again and they said the computer needed to be reset. All the time this was going on, the car was stalling or driving at about 20 mph. One day I smelled something foul and upon looking at the engine compartment I saw the battery was swollen and cracked. I took it back and they proceeded to replace the battery and the heads! It's now been 6 months and guess what? The check engine light came back on! They are now refusing to repair the car and want me to trade it for another car. WOW! What and experience! Can anyone spell CLASS ACTION?
