1992 Suzuki Vitara JLX review from UK and Ireland
"A fun, versatile and spacious small car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Two pieces of fuel hose split.
Some trim in the rear has come away (I guess a previous owner had boisterous children).
Very low tick-over on start up, requires a little gas or it can stall.
Drivers seat has worn and broken stitching.
Passenger side seat rails are broken, the seat is stuck in one position (all back seat passengers have to get in through the drivers side).
General comments?
This car is very reliable and has NEVER let me down.
It's great fun to drive, although it will try to understeer and bounce around (which is to be expected in a 4x4).
For its age, it has very little rust/wear and still looks very smart.
Parts for this car are quite cheap and readily available.
The boot looks very small, but as it is so tall, you can fit a surprising amount in it.
If you move the rear seats back, you can fit even a 6 foot tall man in with adequate leg room!
The 1.6L engine can struggle to pull the car at times; you can need to get the revs quite high.
Does fine in traffic jams, or going 80mph down the motorway.
All in all, surprisingly spacious and versatile for such a small overlooked vehicle.
Great fun.
