1990 Toyota 4Runner SR5 V6 review from North America
"Worth the money paid for it"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Water pump leak at 13,000 miles.
Head gasket blew at 65,000 miles.
Brakes replaced at 60,000 and 130,000 miles.
Air Conditioning hose leaked at 145,000 miles.
Power Steering pump leaking at 155,000 miles.
General comments?
The truck has been extremely reliable. All the earlier problems such as the water pump leak and head gasket leak were fixed under warranty.
The cost of repairs are generally more expensive than other cars but they are few and far between. Good maintenance is the key. I replace the transmission and differential fluid every 25,000 miles. The belt and hoses every 4 years. The radiator coolant every 4 years. The fuel filter every 25,000 miles.
I intend to keep it till it falls apart.
The rest are just age-related.
