1994 Toyota 4Runner SR-5 review from North America
"A very like-able car that treats me right"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I bought the car, it had a bad radiator, so I replaced it for only 150$.
It makes a clicking sound that gets faster as the car speeds up. The sound worries me, but two reputable mechanics tell me that it's just valve tapping, and nothing to worry about yet.
I replaced all the spark plugs, and the old ones looked horrible. They were all white and the gap was all wrong. I think this means the engine runs too hot. Maybe the new radiator will help.
The rear windows roll very slowly, which makes me suspect they are close almost dead. The rear one is also dying.
The AC doesn't work.
Replaced sparkplug wires.
General comments?
As far as I can tell, everything that is wrong with this car is stuff that the previous owner did. I think he treated it like a rally car, so it was lifted and some fancy aftermarket engine stuff.
I hope nothing goes wrong with the car. I have only owned it for a short while, but I like it a lot. I had the 4 cyl. engine in a pickup and it was slow, so the
v6 seems like a major upgrade. So far, I recommend this car. It's like my old tercel wagon on steroids.
