I am the original owner and have maintained my vehicle per the manufacturer schedule. My "VSC TRAC" light came on and per the manual, I took my vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The testing cost $75.00 and revealed that the "deceleration sensor" was bad and needed replacing. The part alone cost almost $900.00. With parts and 2.5 hours of labor the total cost is just shy of $1200.00. As I have just over 55,000 and no extended warranty, it is not covered under the basic warranty. I am very disappointed. Has anyone else had similar experience. I am told by the service representative that this part controls many functions and that is the reason for the cost.
I liked my 4 runner until this happened.
I've heard of a deceleration sensor.
Does this sensor control your momentum, going down hill for example, in slippery conditions? I think what I am asking is if this sensor allows for engine type braking, so you do not coast and gain speed down hills in slippery conditions.
"VSC TRAC" light.
My wife is the second owner of our 4Runner. Our VSD light has come on twice. Both time the kids were messing around in the driver seat (pushing buttons) while it was in the garage with the key "on". The light stayed on after I started the truck which normally doesn't happen. We were going to get it checked out, but were too busy and never made it to the dealersip. The light went out after a couple of days.
The second time it was about the same thing. It has been about 6 months since that and I have not has a problem yet. I fifure that the cumputer didn't "reset" or had a memorey thing. Either way, no problems in profamce while the light was on.
