1992 Toyota 4x4 SR5 review from North America
"Get the 4 cylinder and love it!!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
New clutch at 140000 miles.
O2 sensor.
Air filter case came loose.
Head gasket blew at 145000.
Head gasket blew again at 158800 (currently in the shop).
Seat belts constantly get stuck in the door
because they fail to retract.
General comments?
This was my first car ever. All I have ever heard about is Toyota reliability. I still believe that to some extent, but not when it comes to the 92 3.0 V6. This is the third time the head gasket has blown in this truck. Once with the original owner and twice with me. Absolutely unacceptable and very costly. It must just be this model and year, because after doing research I found this year had head gasket recalls. Bad luck for a first time buyer.
Gas mileage is anywhere from 17-20mpg. Not great at all.
The truck is pretty much a dog compared to newer technology, but it is an awesome 4X4 and work truck.
This truck has cost me an arm and a leg, and I won't be sorry to get rid of it!!!
