2005 Toyota Avalon XLS review from North America

The transmission went at 60,000 miles.

The engine has been bad since 72,000 miles.

If anyone has a 2005 or newer Toyota Avalon get rid of it as soon as possible!! I bought this Avalon in late 2004. Only at 60,000 miles I had to replace the transmission already which is ridiculous. It only gets worse from there. I do a lot of driving so I'm already at 105,000 miles, so everybody please believe me when I say this. This car is unreliable. I had an extended warranty on the car so at least I did not have to pay full value on the total repairs that needed to be done.

This car was leaking oil very fast and there was a roaring noise from the motor. I had always changed the oil every 3,000 miles at the dealer, and it started leaking oil. I took it to one dealer and could not find the problem. I then went to another dealer and said the seal from the oil filter broke. Now since early 2007 it has had major engine problems. I only took this car to Toyota dealers because they are Toyota specialist but they refuse to replace the engine for some reason.

This car runs great until it reaches 60,000 miles and then its time to make a thousand trips to the dealer. If anyone has an Avalon with problems file a complaint with Toyota and NHSTA.GOV, and you can write about it on Carsurvey.
