2001 Toyota Avensis CDX review from UK and Ireland

I have experienced no problems whatsoever with this car.

Having owned a Carina for 4 years previously and had nearly 150,000 trouble free miles I decided not to change a winning formula and continue with its successor the Avensis.

I'm really impressed and happy with this car. The road holding, ride comfort and quietness is very impressive compared to the Carina and the Avensis pre-2000.

I find it very strange that so-called car pundits say it is boring. Have they driven one? I doubt it.

The real pleasure comes from living with the car from day to day, week to week, month in month out with no problems at all, knowing it would take you all over Europe hassle free.

Why is reliability boring, why is a really gutsy smooth hi-tech engine boring, why is Lexus like comfort boring, why is exceptional reliability and build quality boring, the answer is its not.

For years Toyota's have cruised past their opposition laid up on the hard shoulder and it really annoys me when people like Jeremy Clarkson who only test a car for an hour and not live with it for years say it is boring.

Personally I love the shape of the saloon and I would never ever go back to Ford's or Renault's which I had in the past and couldn't rely on to get me down to the supermarket.

Great car, great specification, buy one and you will not regret it.
