1997 Toyota Camry XLE review from North America
"This car will treat you well if you take care of it."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
-Nov 2007: $440 for 2 new front struts to try to fix the infamous rattling noise in the front right passenger side. FYI: rattling still there!
-2006: $800 to replace front right caliper at Toyota dealership after failing state inspection.
-Many alignments.
-Replaced battery twice.
-Replaced timing belt.
-3 disk CD player jams every once in a while.
-Rear view mirror is gradually turning odd tinted colors.
General comments?
I've had it for 10 years now and only within these past couple of years have I had to be concerned with treating it like a 10 year old car.
I do feel like it has many more years left, but dread having to bring it to a shop to fix. Minors problems are costly, but major problems are killer...
Be sure to get lots of quotes and opinions on your car problem. The Toyota dealership is not always right and are often the most expensive.
