1992 Toyota Camry DX review from North America
"Bulletproof reliability!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Right after it turned 100K, I've had minor problems like:
* Exhaust manifold cracked, just welded it back into place, no big deal. Cost $10 to weld.
* Probably the worst: Replaced the clutch - $200. Not bad.
That's about it.
General comments?
This car has been VERY reliable and cost-effective. Used as a daily driver. The only reason the clutch went out is because I frequently do burn-outs on it, and is MY FAULT anyway.
I have 4 MTX subs that fit comfortably in the trunk, 4 amps in the wheel well, and an ultimate surround sound setup in the main console and this car can handle serious sound modifications! Most controls are present where you expect it.
The car isn't all that quick and all, considering I have some 500lbs of audio equipment in the trunk, but the handling is EXCELLENT. A lot of people thought this car is a 99-01 model, but you should see the look in their faces when I tell them it's a 1992! They thought I restored it.
Oh yeah and it's a poor man's Lexus too!
