2001 Toyota Camry LE review from North America

The steering wheel shakes (wobbles side to side) at speeds above 40 mph. It has done this every since I bought the car new from the Toyota dealership. I continued to take the car back to their shop and I was continually told that "this is normal". It would shake so bad that my watch would rattle on my arm. They supposedly even brought in some "special technician" who does nothing but trouble shoot problems and they told me he "did not find anything wrong" either. Everyone else (other than the Toyota people at the Lufkin, TX dealership) tell me something is wrong with the car. I have had all the tires rotated and balanced, numerous times and even bought four new tires. After buying new tires the shake in the steering wheel got better, but now the whole car vibrates.

The Toyota Dealership refuses to acknowledge that something is wrong with the car. They also have flat out lied to me about what they were doing: (1) shop manager told me he had sent a guy to the tire shop to pick up my car and after waiting about an hour and continuously asking what the problem was I watched him drive into the dealership with my car. (2) He told me that I could not speak with the "special technician" as he did not deal directly with customers, but after being told that he also had found nothing wrong with the car I asked to speak with him and was told he was busy with another customer. I will not go back into the place unless it is warranty work.

If it wasn't for the steering wheel shake and poor service it would be a nice car. I have no desire to own another Toyota.
