1988 Toyota Camry LE review from North America
"The best"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The exhaust system (from the catalytic converter back) fell off one day as I was driving home. I limped it over to my mechanic, and I had a brand new one put on for $180 total cost.
It has a rough idle at stops when I am using a lot of electricity (running fan, defroster, lights- lots of things on at once). Seems it doesn't like an accessory overload.
Driver's side seat had a big tear.
General comments?
This is my first foreign car, and wow- it's been great! Puts my previous beater to shame. My Yo is my "second car"- it's great for saving wear and tear on my 5.0 Mustang.
I sold my Topaz and bought this Yo for $100 wholesale off a local used car lot. It's tagged, and I just ran it through inspection without a problem.
Great gas mileage, and rides really nice. Needs struts, but it's a comfortable car to ride in other than that.
The motor is strong- runs like a new car! I've had many 100K+ vehicles, and for the price, this one was a steal.
