"Great first car or commuter vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Bought this car after the lady owner put in a new alternator and timing belt, and then was told it needed power steering pump so I got it for $500. She said it was a delivery vehicle before she bought it - has a weird logo ("Melting Man") on the cargo area driver's side window (it's a wagon).
New power steering pump and muffler at 235K ($500).
New brake rotors, pads, and rear drums at 250K ($400).
New radiator and AC system at 255K ($1200).
New fuel pump at 265K ($600 - they had to drain and remove the gas tank).
Signal to turn left buzzes, but works just holding the lane change detent.
Sometimes decides to shift out of OD when the cruise is on; cruise also sometimes shuts down (these both happen mostly on level pavement - weird).
Just had it tuned and now getting 32mpg vs. 27.
General comments?
I drive this to work every day 25mi. each way and use the cruise at the 65 limit because it likes to go 92. It would be nice if it was quieter on the freeway. It's very comfortable, but wish the driver's seat went back further and had more thigh support (I'm 6'1"). The ride is much more controlled than my Buick Park Avenue. Handles OK for a family wagon.
