1986 Toyota Camry review from North America

Muffler fell off and brake line busted shortly after I bought the car. Not Toyota's fault obviously. I kept driving for about 7 months with very limited brakes and no muffler. I finally replaced the brake lines for about $20 worth of parts. It stops well now, still no muffler so it's noisy and has reduced mpg's and power, but still runs fine.

More of the front drivers quarter panel has flaked off since I bought it, its pretty badly rusted/broken there. other small rust spots on paint have grown a little.

This car is the best investment I have ever made. I bought it for $460. I have put $20 into the brakes and gas money that's all. The thing runs great, starts every time. Even without a tune up that I'm sure it need and having a broken exhaust pipe and no muffler. I was getting about 380 miles (12 gallon tank) with the muffler on now I get around 300.

The cars paint is awful, there is a decent amount of rust. it turns stiff sometimes, the tape player is broken, the heat barely works, the radio tuner is tempramental. But I really don't care, I paid under 500 and have driven it for a year with almost no money into. How could I complain.

It actually is a cool looking car I think. If it had a new paint job and a new quarter panel it would look really really cool. I'ts a attractive design.

I drive the car fast all the time. On the highway between 75 and 90 mph, it has no problem doing this everyday, the car shakes at that point, but its 20 yrs old and has had no maintenance.

Oh yeh it does shake really bad while idling in drive, I slip it into nuetral when stopped and its fine.

With work it could be a great little vechicle. For me and my money it's great as it is.
