"I'll drive a much better looking, sportier, and much better overall vehicle in the Toyota Camry."

Ha ha ha ha!! A sporty Camry?? You must live someplace where there aren't many cars around for comparison.

<<I'd be embarrassed to be seen in a Camry, especially those bland beige colored (there's so many of them) Camrys and I'm 23. I wouldn't really want a Buick either, but would take one over the Toyota. I'd then trade it in on a Nissan or Honda. Toyota might have the engineering part down, but their styling, yuck it leaves something to be desired. The Camry has always been an ugly car with the exception of the mid 90's ones which are so bland there's nothing to dislike.>>

You're not the target market for the Camry so it really doesn't matter what you say. Obviously over 400,000 people per year disagree with you.

"Sporty Camry" is an oxymoron, just like "Toyota quality".

<<Someone told me that the designer who had designed the Pontiac Aztek had left GM and gone to work for Toyota. I thought they were kidding until I saw the new Camrys.>.

No, you heard wrong. He designed the new Dodge Caliber.

Toyotas realy aren't all that safe. did you hear about the scion xB? and how, at first it was regarded as extremely safe, but then jsut recently (a month ago) on the news, I saw that in fact they were dangerious, because they accordion-up on impact. I believe there was quite a few testimonies as well...

Does this Toyota jealousy have no end? They make the best cars on the road, everyone in the country, except for a few that comment here, already knows this.

It could be argued that Honda is as good or better, even Nissan is close. But Buicks don't even belong in the discussion. They're overpriced, bloated, spongy-riding, gas guzzling, slow-responding, BORING cars.

Why are you people that own or favor them even reading or commenting here? Maybe when I'm 75 years old, I might want to drive a lumbering tank like that, but until then I want something fun to drive. A Camry might not be sporty, but it's FAR, FAR sportier than any Buick.

A Lacrosse is a much classier and better looking car then the Camry, and with that horrible 4 banger engine and crappy transmission they put in the Camry, I wouldn't be surprised if the Buick is faster as well. And believe me, NOBODY is jealous of Toy-ota. Why did they just redesign their pickup to keep up with the far superior American trucks?

Proof please, since the ratings say the opposite.

1) The Toyota is available in BOTH 4 and 6 cylinder, something which anyone arguing about Buick vs. Toyota should know.

2) People who buy American cars buy on price and care little for quality. This has been the case since the 1960's and is proven by the success of such medicore products as the Cavalier and the American Ford Focus (which is now 10 years old WITHOUT a redesign unlike its European counterpart)

Well, according to J.D. Powers customer satisfaction surveys, Buick has had a HIGHER satisfaction rating than Camry, Accord or Maxima for years now. In addition, accident statistics show that you are TWICE as likely to be killed in a Camry than in a well-built, solid Buick. As for performance, the Buick LaCrosse is smoother, quieter, faster, handles better in emergency avoidance maneuvers, has a more reliable drive train, gets better mileage and costs less than the Camry V-6. So just exactly how is Camry supposed to be better???

I've read this comment multiple times now and have yet to see a single shred of evidence to back this up, especially since the Camry has a FIVE star crash rating, the highest possible.

Boy, are they going to be at a loss when Buick is axed by GM like Oldsmobile (GM has dramatically cut funding to Buick already).

To 13:33, What the hell is an emergency avoidance maneuver and how is a Buick better at it? Why are you here? This is a Toyota site. You need a better car.

I'm writer 21:39. To say " Does this toyota jeaulousy have no end." doesn't even have any merit. My mom has a toyota coralla. I'll admit it is a good car, so I can tell you that I'm not jealous. But to call buicks "over priced, bloated, spongy riding, gas guzzling, slow responding, boring cars" is jelousy. I don't call spending $2800 a luxery car with leather seats, dual climate control, air ride suspension, and many other "luxery items" expensive, with barely over 100,000 miles expensive. Overpriced is when you pay the same amount for a toyota with close to 200,000 miles with many many less features than a buick.

As for spongy riding, I don't call not realizing you're not riding in a car or going bumps and barley filling the bumps spongy. That seems to mean comfortable: lets say it again "comfortable" to me. Maybe your so used to your teeth chipping and your body vibrating 3 minutes after you hit a bump in your toyota is comfort. I can say from experience that riding in some toyota models you'll experience that.

As far a gas guzzling goes, buicks aren't really gas guzzlers. I get 20mpg in the city not a lot of highway driving. A toyota camery can't do much better than that. I won't die if my car doesn't get 100mpg gallon like some.

As far a slow responding, I guarantee you that my park avenue isn't slow. I was even suprised how fast it was when I got it. You have to look at the speedometer constanty because you'll be doing 15 miles over the speed limit without realizing it. When I pass your toyota with my "boat" I'll barley hear my engine while your redlining your toyata and I can hear it with my music volume maxed out. Which year did a toyata camery finally pass 200hp. My park avenue did it back in 1995.

As far as boring, a car doesn't have to look like it's from the fast and furious to look sporty, and a car doesn't have to look sporty to look good. At least on my Buick I can put some nice rims on it and tint the window and make it look more appealing. I'll admit you could do this to mid 90's toyota's and it looks nice, butt on a 2006??? Tint, yes, but rims, lol. When I'm behind the 2000's models I left trying to figure out if the exhaust system is going to scrape the ground because it hangs so low, real sporty heah?

Maybe when I'm 80 years old I'll drive your " I think I'm higher than everybody who drives a domestic vehicle, they're idiots" plastic, weightless, toyota.

And why are toyota people commenting on Buicks on a toyota forum?

Very few people buy the Camry with a 6 cylinder. Which means more sadly underpowered cars getting in my way on the freeway. And your second comment is flat out not true! Have you even SEEN the new Escalade or Denali? Name ONE Toyota SUV that has interior quality to match. Toyota's are for economy buyers, who want good gas mileage and not much power (or just sheeple who fall for ad hype). Personally I like interesting cars that have power and class and that's why I buy American.

BTW, as far as I know, we haven't even had the Ford Focus for 10 years have we?

18:44 my dad had a "lumbering" Buick GS 455...I drove a "lumbering" Buick Turbo Grand National. Maybe when I'm 80 I'll drive a Camry as these Buicks are not for the faint of heart.
