1985 Toyota Camry LE review from North America
"Its not a Camry It's a tank"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
CV joints and alternator were from a you pull junk yard.
Both CV joints shot: replaced
Alternator from a 88 Camry: replaced
the following have not been fixed yet
Front window regulators shot
Shocks are shot
Oil,power steering, radiator leaks, Though if Id fix them they wouldn't
No reverse
No muffler probably rusted from old owner
Both outside door handle shot
A/C Not sure whats wrong though I haven't checked
great heater though.
I think the voltage regulator is bad
temp gauge has a intermediate problem
40% of body paint is gone
Oh and it rarely (3 times so far) puts out white smoke in city conditions.
General comments?
I bought this car from a good friend for $250 he bought it from a junk yard "i think". Despite these problems that this car has, it has never failed me accept the alternator luckily I was at home. The gas millage is excellent. A full tank will get me about 350mi. When I first bought the car I had very little respect and hope for this little tank. All I've done is Oil changes and keeping up with the other fluids.
But the car still refuses to fail me. Also a lot of mechanic friends have told me that the car will probably fall apart around the engine :)
