1993 Toyota Carina E XLi Estate from UK and Ireland - Comments

"Very reliable and economical, ideal for my job carrying samples"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Washer motor for the rear window failed, but as it's combined unit for front screen I had to get a complete unit. Covered under the waranty.

Nothing else done, except routine maintenance, beware platinum DENSO spark plugs from Toyota, they cost £12.50 each!!!

General comments?

A very reliable large roomy car.

Much more economical than handbook figures suggest, I get at least between 39/43 MPG, based on 3 years general driving and the occasional thrash to work the valves thoroughly, it really pulls well at high revs!

I supplied this report, happy to say the old girl is still going strong, now at 125000 miles, only needed starter motor (£45.00 second hand) new battery after 9 years from new! Well it was a Toyota Battery!! Still same exhaust, needed new disks and normal consumables, No rust, still looks good. I will drive it until it drops, as I have only been offered £500.00 part exchange!! not worth changing when depreciation will cost more than 500 in the first year!

I have a 1993 carina 2.0 executive and has done 63500 miles and have been offered £1000 for mine, but I'm not going to sell it mine leaked water from the cooling system it wasnt a gasket it was a bolt what had nearly come out I tightened it all up all the bolts under the engine and it has worked fine since carinas are very good they never break down and parts never go.
