1982 Toyota Carina 1600 review from UK and Ireland
"Big old 4 door cruiser, good car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Water pump started weeping not long after I got her, but I can forgive that as it was the original pump which had been there since 1982 ha ha
same goes for the shocks which I replaced, they were long overdue a change
other than that, nothing has gone wrong.
Actually, yes, the doors are prone to rust where the mirrors attach.
General comments?
I compete in Rally with a Toyota Corolla GT so I bought this Carina to recce the course before hand as mechanically it is identical to the Corolla,
same axle, suspension, brakes, etc...
I had intended to use the Carina only for this, but I have actually grown quite fond of it, she is a big old 4 door cruiser and despite her 25 year old boxy looks, she drives as good, and is as well balanced as more modern cars.
I wish Toyota still made RWD cars.
