1986 Toyota Celica GT-S review from North America

Well, I just recently traded my integra for this celica. Only owned for two weeks now.

The battery was relocated to the rear and somehow caused my alternator to fail (battery cable to long).

3sgte alternators are around $300 new!

Lots of noise from the rear suspension (possibly sway bar end links)

Suspension is to soft.

Odometer not correct due to the motor swap, but the body has around 215K miles. Only rust spot on the car is the rear lower left side of the bumper.

Well, this is in it's own class... has the same turbo 3S motor from the GTFour, but the FF layout and 1000kg weight of the ST model. The engine is outputting about 200hp and is mated to a Camry V6 5spd. The gear ratios are perfect for the engine as the first 2 gears are taller, but work in perfection with the Turbo's torque. My only complaint is the suspension. It is converted to the GT-S 4 disc, 5-lug hubs, and the GT-S shocks with Eibach springs. But the dampers are blown on the front and are giving out in the rear and aftermarket suspension is tough to find for this year and generation. KYB or Koni are my readily available options, but I contacted Bilstien about a custom setup that I would like to have them do and if you're wondering how much it'll cost, then this route is not for you!!! But this car is stout!! The body rigidity is better than my honda could ever be. Nothing but great things to say about Toyota, but the suspension is my only gripe and that'll be taken care of very soon.
