Yeah I found out about taking the turbo off the all trac celica and putting it on mine and yes it can be done. my engine is a 3s ge and the all trac is 3s gte. so anyways the manifolds can be swapped, but the compression ratio's are different, will this really matter? or will I just be loosing a few of those 205 horsey's.

Hi everyone.

I have a 1992 celica ST its my 1st car salvaged tho, but its still my baby, the previous owner ripped me off he didn't tell me the driver side lock doesn't work I have to crawl over to unlock on the passenger side and the trunk needs welding on one of the sides. I'm looking for anotehr one to replace it. its kinda dented, but that's okay. it has alloy rims for some reason no spoiler tho. it's an auto and when it shifts it sounds like a manual I wanted to get an intake and a new muffler for it any ideas? please email me at sinniemon@excite.com thanks =)

The only way to get that much horsepower out of a celica is to one of three things... or a combination:

1) 3SGTE swap which I highly recommend. the 3SGTE was made for racing and performance, the 5SFE was made for economy purposes.

2) Forced Induction. Go with the burien kit, or there is a company out there called RippMods that makes a supercharger kit or you can even scrap together your own turbo kit for hella cheaper.

3) Nitrous.

Intake will maybe give you 3 HP...maybe. cold air will give you 5-7HP. Exhaust will relieve some backflow tension which will add about 5-10HP...depending on how the system is configured, but you will lose torque mad. Upgrade your camshafts. WebCam performance camshafts will give you regrinds that I've heard add about 25HP. Dyno tested 25hp gains. You can also get forged pistons. Go to www.6gc.net. It's for the 6th generation celica, but it ahsb a bunch of performance modifications for the 5SFE engine. Please don't go posting that your car gets 190HP. It won't...ever! until you do oen fot hese three things. I guess you could build up an NA 5SFE, but it would cost so much money and would be much mroe worth it to swap in the 3SGTE. Besides, stock the Celica gets that rated 135HP at the crank... not the wheels. I've seen dyno graphs of stock Celica's and they are at about 97.3 wheel hp. With all fo your mods, intake, exhaust, removed cat, plugs even...I'd put you at (if you're lucky and everything goes as planned) a top 110HP. the dyno graph I last looked at... with intake, plugs, new iginition module and exhuast he upgraded from 97.3 to 105.6. You don't gain that much from bolt ons!

There is a Yahoo group called the International Celica Owners Club, and on it you will find a guy called Marty from Ireland. He can rebuild these things with his eyes closed, including the imports 4ws and TEMS suspension models, he has a 89 gtr that runs low 14's and it aint even a turbo!!!

Whatupp guys. I have a 1992 toyota celica gt which I have upgraded with an cold air intake and advanced the timing all the way up and I also re-gapped the plugs to compensate for the advanced timing. I can tell a big difference from the before and after. 0-60 in 6.9 by a stop watch. Last week I took my engine out and took my block to a machine shop to have my cylinders bored out.040 which would put them at 88mm instead of 87mm stock.I'm also getting a 30 angle valve job done to my head. Do you guys think this would give me an increase in horsepower or torque that I will be happy with??? please respond!!! A true 2.2 liter 5sfe... OH yea I'm also getting an stage II clutch.

OK, I'd like to add this. Who is the guy who said he had a 3sge NON-TURBO engine and said he put a turbo in to makeit the 3sgte? Toyota never made a 2.0 liter na engine. Here is what toyota made between 1990 and EARLY 1994 (listed as a 1993)

ST 1,587cc (1.6 Liter) NA 4-cylinder twin-cam 16-valve with EFI front wheel drive 103bhp@6000rpms and 102 ft/lbs of torque at 3200 rpms made 1990-1994.

ST-X same.

GT 2,164cc (2.2 liter) NA 4-cylinder twin-cam 16-valve with EFI front wheel drive 130bhp@5400rpms and 140 ft/lbs of torque at 4,400 rpms made 1990-1994.

GT-X same.

GT-S same.

All-trac (North American GT-Four) 1998cc (2.0 liter) Turbo intercooler (air cooled) 4-cylinder twin-cam 16-valve with EFI and All-wheel drive, viscous coupling center differential 201 bhp@6000rpms and 200 ft/lbs of torque @ 3200 rpms made 1990-1994.

Carlos Sainz Edition All-Trac 1998cc (2.0 liter) Turbo intercooler (water cooled) 4 cylinder twin-cam 16-valve with EFI and All-Wheel drive, viscous coupling center differential 205 bhp@6000rpms and 203 ft/lbs of torque @ 3200 rpms made 1992 only. 5000 made.

GT-Four (Japanese All-Trac) 1998cc (2.0 liter) Turbo intercooler (air cooled) 4 cylinder twin-cam 16-valve with EFI and All-Wheel drive, viscous coupling center differential. 235 bhp unknown rpms. unknown torque. made 1990-1994.

I have every spec you can think of, even firing order. hehe e-mail me if anyone has a question about any 1990-1994 5th gen celica BandBMotorsports@adelphia.net.

I've got a 1992 celica gts. I'm going to put 17" rims and lower the suspension. I bought a hood for the 4wd model

(it has the scoop and vents, I want it to look nicer)

I'm wondering if I can get a forced air intake that will hook up to it and where I can get it.

I also got my hands on a 1991 celica gts for parts (front end damage). The engine is still good and I want to do some mods to it. I'm wondering what I could do in Terms of making it as fast as possible. It's a spare engine so I'm not worried about time (I don't care if it takes a couple years. I Planning on spending $5000-$8000. I can also get it ported and polished for free, but I don't know how much hp I can gain from it. Will it be worth the time, effort, and money If I do the right mods? If it is what are the best mods I could do for it?

If anyone can help please e-mail brian at bgrainger@sympatico.ca. Any info on other web sights would also be helpful.

HI.

I need to ask a question. What is the difference between the motor mount of the 3sge and 3sgte?

I am thinking of swaping the 3sgte.

If somebody knows the answer please send me and e-mail.

Hey I have a celica gt 2.2 with 170XXX miles and I'm wondering if its even worth modifying. I personally think it has dam god acceleration for stock especially being 92. I already blow away any stock honda that pulls up next to me even some with those loud ass mufflers I'm figuring its only because that ezxhaust is the only mod they have done. Any I love my celica I just want faster top speed. It seems to slow down to much when getting towards 80-90.

To the above comment:

You're not going to get much pull over 80 anyway from a NA 4 cyl. Bolt-ons might help a little bit, but forced induction is the way to go if you want any kind of top-end.

You don't need body mods for your 91 CELICA just get yourself a gt4 bonnet and front bumper (UK spec) some nice 15inch alloys and bob's your uncle.
