1982 Toyota Celica GT review from North America
"Good to the last"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I totaled the car shortly after getting it from my father as a loner first car. I was 16 at the time, and a person ran a stop sign in a 92 Saturn 4 Door. Totaled their car, and just bent the front end up. On the way home, the original hood folded back up on me. I put a 85 hood on it for 20 bucks, and bent the front end back down.
I totaled it again in September. I was going too fast and the darn road stopped and led into a ditch.
Reverse and first grind like heck.
The rear wheel wells rusted out, allowing water to enter the trunk (at large volume) The rear trunk hatch also rusted badly around the emblem.
It tried to overheat if I went over 90 :)
General comments?
I loved this car. My dad took it back when I got my 91 Mazda Protege, and it is going to be sold. It was a great first car, with excellent gas milage and great reliability. Unfortunately, the drive-shaft came off on the last day I drove it, but that wasn't the car's fault.
