1995 Toyota Celica GT review from North America

The clutch went at about 200,000km, but this was expected given I acquired the car at 169,000. A leak developed in the exhaust pipe where the flex pipe is, which had to be replaced. An idle problem exists which I can't figure out. The engine doesn't seem to idle up in the winter when it is cold, and so I just raise the idle with the throttle slightly for a minute. I will get it fixed, but the idle control parts are very expensive and so I don't want to replace anything that doesn't need replacement, even still the engine runs fine. Began consuming oil at 220,000km to the point where I have to add about half a liter between oil changes.

Very solid, clean and efficient running engine. Get about 550km on a 55L tank. The engine never gets tired of being pushed hard. Although a little bit more power for this car would be welcomed.

The car was lowered, intake, beefed up exhaust pipe and muffler. Turns on a dime, with very good feedback from the steering wheel. With the original shocks and 3 year old lowering springs I am yet to feel any body roll on tight turns.

It may need a paint job soon, I have been putting it off for a while, the clear coat around the door handles and the bumper is starting to peel slightly. The car is over 8 years old and the only thing that is rusting slightly is the tow hook. It has been driven every winter with all that road salt with no effect on the chassis or body, but a winter car has now been purchased so she will sit tight when it is cold from now on.

The reliability of the car is unbelievable. Interior is very sound and comfortable. Everything is put in the right place both inside and out. Most importantly she has never left me stranded and isn't giving me any hints of doing so anytime soon.
