1990 Toyota Celica GT review from North America
"A sporty, fun, reliable car !"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Normal maintenance -- front brakes replaced twice over 14 years.
Timing belt replaced at 80,000 miles. Timing belt snapped at 141,000 miles with no engine damage at all!
Passenger side seat belt won't retract -- happened when it was three years old.
Replaced clutch at 160,000 miles.
Replaced distributor at 160,000 miles. Due to oil in distributor causing misfiring.
Motor mount loosened - tightened at 160,000 miles.
Constant problem over the last five years -- oil leaks. This what most likely caused the distributor to go.
General comments?
I had basically no problems until the clutch, motor mount and distributor issue above. And even those are fairly normal, except for the oil leaks.
It has always gotten better than expected gas mileage, it is still fun to drive, and it still looks like new after a wash and wax.
