1992 Toyota Celica review from Australia and New Zealand
"Stylish looking fun car with all the comforts"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced sun visor.
Replaced electric aerial.
Hooked up back speakers (they had been disconnected).
General comments?
After I had a collision with my Corolla, I found a Celica convertible at a car dealership around my area. It was like fate. I had always wanted to own one, but they were pricey and difficult to find, especially in Melbourne.
I was considering a European convertible, but heard too many horror stories of how high maintenance they are, and I thought most looked a bit clumsy for the price I could afford, but then the Celica came along with its sleek styling and reliability I couldn’t pass it up.
The car is an import from Japan, as they did not sell an Australian Celica Convertible because it would have been to expensive to manufacture for the local market, so there aren’t too many around. It really attracts attention, especially with its top down, and the black duco makes it look stylish and more expensive than it really was.
It still retains its good looks and hasn’t dated. I find the roof designed to complement the style of the car, rather than looking like an afterthought like many convertibles.
The roof goes down really well and pops up with ease - better than other convertibles.
Everything seems very well made and put together.
