"Surprisingly Impressive!!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Gearbox needed rebuilding at 50,000 miles due to the synchro on second weakening, now is starting to happen on third.

Other than that, nothing.

General comments?

Great car. Looked at the Mazda 5, VW Touran and Grand Scenic before choosing this. Was disappointed with the 5's comfort, the Touran's nondescript looks and the really awful build quality of the Renault.

Done just under 60,000 miles in the last year and apart from a small gearbox problem cannot fault the car.

Doing the mileage I do it is a common occurence to travel 300 miles in a day, and when I do I always get out of the car with no aches or pains.

Performance is perfectly adequate for an 1800 with about 300 kg's of tools in the boot although it does get a bit vocal towards the top of the rev range.

Handling is surprisingly good for a car of this type. Many a time have I kept up with something much more desirable down the narrow country lanes.

The seven seats are great but of course theres no boot space when you use them all, which is a bit silly really, but I suppose that's what roof boxes were invented for.

I tow a 900kg, 18ft caravan with mine and it does so with no complaints.

All in all a great car that does exactly what you expect it to and sometimes a little bit more.

Just about to get rid of this car now. The mileage is at 102,000 miles, it is March 2009.

The gearbox has been my biggest problem, had it rebuilt a total of 4 times and now it needs doing again. Toyota refuse to pay for it, so does my fleet company, so it is being left as is and sold onto the next unsuspecting person. Think I'll leave a note in the service book.

Just had a brand new short engine, car only went in for a service, was running fine, apart from gearbox, but they said they needed it longer than expected because they found a small oil leak whose fix involved fitting a new short engine. Said Toyota warranty would cover it, which I find strange as that finished over 40,000 miles ago. Are they trying to do a sneaky recall???

Funnily enough though, I'd still recommend this car.

Don't know what will be next on my car list as I have just been made redundant, so a 7 seater diesel for under 2 grand please!!!
