2005 Toyota Corolla CE review from North America
"An excellent car for high priced gas"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
There is a recall on the exhaust, and the check engine light is on, which is probably because of a faulty sensor.
General comments?
This is the newest car I have ever had. I read plenty of excellent reviews on this car, and they're the most reliable, fuel efficient, and affordable sedans around.
The outside styling is nice, unlike the Hyundai Accent. The inside is also very nice, although a little on the boring side.
The Toyota Corolla rides good on the road. The acceleration is good; however it's limited because it's automatic. It's better off not to floor it, but to just about floor it in order to get good acceleration. It only has a 130hp engine, but it still has a lot of passing power if needed, but it takes some pedal pushing to get to that.
When you get up to about 60mph, it starts to become a noisy ride, and the radio will have to be turned up a little to hear better.
The handling is very responsive, but gets weak past 75mph.
The seats are reasonably comfortable, but not like sitting in a Mercedes, and I'm a tall person, and there is not a lot of leg room in this car, even though I have the seat all the way back. However this is a very popular car on the road, so many people different shapes and sizes should be able to get themselves comfortable in this car. The Corolla also has a tilt steering wheel, to help a little more with comfort and seat adjustments.
Bottom line: The Corolla is an excellent fuel efficient car, and would be good for anybody.
