1984 Toyota Corolla Spirit review from Australia and New Zealand
"Economical, great first car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
It has a bad habit of burning out points. So I am constantly re setting and cleaning them.
Many oil leaks, Also constantly toping up oil.
Alternator died- Fitted reco'd one, now dieing, about.. 30 000ks later.
General comments?
I have a AE71, not the AE86 like everyone thinks when they hear 84 rolla.
Its kind of cramped, I am about 6"1/2.. and yeah, its pretty small then.. but if I get a smaller steering wheel.. then it'd be fine. :)
All in all, this car is nice, with 300 000 on the standard engine.. you have to expect some problems starting to arise. I would get another corolla they are a great little car.
I eventually hope to up grade to a 4AGE, from the later model corollas. 100kW.. nice!
